Julia is not pleased to find that Jack and Cyril have become buddies. Mike can't remember what happened the previous night.

Patricia asks Sue to baby-sit. Diana is annoyed to find that Rod has been systematically lying to her. Julia discovers that she has been stood up in a big way.

Rod tries to make amends with Diana. Tony and his friends' plans to watch an erotic video are thwarted when the police call with news that Mike and Jacqui have been arrested, so they have to find someone to give them a lift. Katie is interested in Sammy's love life.

Ron is convinced that designer-violence videos are responsible for Mike and Jacqui's dabbling with drugs, but DD disagrees when she finds out their true motives.

Tony is grounded when Ron finds Maria's missing erotic video. Chrissy arranges a dinner-date, but with which Gina? Rod has a meal with Diana and her father, and Margaret returns from Oldham.

Sammy is being evasive about her new boyfriend, while Margaret has other things on her mind. Mick takes drastic action when he receives the credit card bill.

Leo is winning friends based on Mick's actions, but Mick isn't sure that it's something to be proud of. Chrissy is not surprised when Frank develops a cold a few days before they are due to meet Gina. Max wants to be on time for his interview, but can he persuade Margaret to iron his shirt?

Frank and Chrissy are off on the dreaded dinner-date. More bills arrive for the Johnsons. Patricia tries to make toxic waste sexy. Mike worries that his involvement in Sinnott's attempt to fly will be discovered.

The proposed footpath is causing conflicton the Close, as some are opposed and others see opportunities. Margaret's work-to-rule is beginning to have an effect on the Farnham household.

Mick's prospects in court don't look good, and his debts continue to mount. Ron makes progress in his bid to acquire a shop. Terry is worried that Sue is buying clothes on credit, and Jimmy and Sinbad go flat-hunting.

Ron capitalises on his deal with Jed Smith, and looks forward to owning a business on the new parade.

Jimmy and Sinbad plan to hold a car boot sale. Mick is furious to discover that Josie is in debt again. Ron has a surprise visitor. Patricia is determined to resolve her problems with Margaret.

Jimmy and Sinbad wonder whether they could ever bring anyone back to their double-decker-bunk bedsit. Patricia makes a surprising confession to Max.

Jacqui devises a plan to make herself seem like a good girl but still allow her to go to the party, but it doesn't work as well as she hopes. Sinbad and Jimmy cause chaos.

Josie and Marcia wonder what they can do to raise money. Ron thinks someone has swapped two of his kids for aliens. The Farnhams are concerned that Thomas will pick up Margaret's accent and phrases.

Max is concerned that Tony will interfere with his car. Patricia rebukes Margaret about her non-matching stair gates. Terry discovers that Ron's opinion of the path has changed.

Max demonstrates his maturity by finding a way of getting his own back on Tony. Sinbad has to find other means of transport to and from the boot sale when there isn't enough room for him in the car.

Josie tries to persuade Mick to accept his solicitor's advice. The Dixons prepare for a pancake day contest.

On Valentine's Day, the same card is rescued from the bin more than once, and one resident receives more cards than she could ever have expected. Mick talks to Frank about the dilemma he faces.

Mick's solicitor abandons him when he elects for trial by jury. Geoff makes extensive preparations for his mystery Valentine date.

Sammy's older man is causing trouble for her at home. An attack on Rod leads to the possibility of romance for Tracy.

Chrissy voices her fears about Sammy, likening her situation to the early days of her own marriage. Frank overhears, and misconstrues.

A trip down to the pub seems to mysteriously cure Rod's illness. Frank and Chrissy resolve to do something about Sammy's relationship with Tim.

Frank head-butts Paula's father when he turns up to complain about Geoff getting his daughter drunk. Mick comes home to find the bungalow full of shoes and boxes. Margaret has some uninvited guests, and when she asks for Mike's help to remove them, one of Patricia's teapots is smashed.

Mick is worried about Josie's health and tries to get her to slow down, but it's too late. Bumper is hopeful that he and his mate will soon be young, free and single again.

Sammy is determined that her parents won't interfere in her life, but that won't stop them trying. Rod tries to install a shower, with no assistance from Tracy.

Geoff and Bumper go in search of their favourite band, but don't have much success. The Johnson household is happy, until Mick receives an official-looking letter in the post. Sue tells Terry she would like another child.

Josie and Marcia come up with a new sales pitch to improve their luck at the market. Barry brings flowers for Sue, and she wonders why. Tony and his mates sabotage Max's shed.

Terry and Sue visit a counsellor, where the news is much better than expected, although money may yet be the deciding factor. Margaret finds that she only has to touch something and it falls apart.

Barry calls in a favour from Terry. The Farnhams return from holiday, feeling happy and refreshed, but Margaret becomes tearful and offers her resignation. Tracy tells Rod he needn't be concerned that she is seeing Mark.

Tracy and Mark have a date. Sue worries about what Barry might be getting Terry into. Max arranges for Tony and his mates to re-assemble his shed, but Ron and DD have other ideas. When Max brings up the subject of tarmac again, Ron reaches for his pick.

Terry goes for tests at the hospital. Ron has the road surface properly repaired at last, but Max still isn't happy. Barry has plans involving a man with a pony-tail.

It's Max's first day in his new job, and he finds himself hemmed in by the Dixons. Patricia starts work on a new campaign. Frank is furious to discover that Sammy returned from her course a day early but didn't come home.

Frank tries to convince Sammy that what she is doing is wrong, but Sammy knows that Chrissy was doing the same when she was 17.

Sammy packs her bags and leaves home to move in with Tim. Terry finds out whether he has passed his sperm test.

Sammy has been out on the tiles again. Nikki gets her marching orders. Barry tries to make Terry realise that he has still got problems.

Tony plans to remove all the Easter eggs from Max's garden. Frank goes to confront Sammy at the hotel. Tracy is not impressed when Mark spends a night out patronising Diana without her realising.

Frank intends to make Sammy even more embarrassed. Barry goes to church, which could lead to some good news for Tracy.

Josie wants to use Mick's court fund to buy stock for her market stall. The Dixons and Bensons go out for the evening, leaving Jacqui to babysit Tony and Benno. Frank decides to take an overseas run. There are arguments about childcare at the Farnhams'.

Max's ex-wife telephones asking for more money, which doesn't please Patricia. Barry has another favour to ask of Terry, and Mick discusses his chances in court. Chrissy goes to visit Sammy at Tim's.

Margaret's little job on the side isn't going to please Patricia, especially as she is not on very good terms with Josie. Sue offers to help Barry. Chrissy tries to persuade Frank to go to see Sammy before he goes overseas.

Mick is frustrated when he can't find Frank, and Sammy is unwilling to help. Max takes a day off work, and witnesses the arrival of a new monstrosity at the Dixons'.

Jimmy tries to persuade Josie to diversify into baby clothes, which he can offer at a reasonable charge. Margaret wonders if Max is doing the right thing by removing the old kitchen units before ordering new ones.

Mick faces up to his court appearance, but doesn't want Gemma and Leo with him. Patricia discovers that Max has applied for another job, and has already handed in his notice at the electricity board.

The noise of the band practising causes annoyance around the Close. The jury arrives at a verdict on Mick. Barry makes a frustrating discovery about Jed Smith.

Josie feels bad about the taxi drivers' money, and won't even have a friendly flutter with Mick. Patricia is finding it hard to convince her boss that she has a brain. Mike considers deferring his college career, but Jacqui doesn't fancy his chances.

Mick discovers that Josie has taken the money. Mike is nervous before his gig at the Legion. Maria feels that she needs a change. Margaret is not pleased when her ex-boyfriend tracks her down.

The Farnhams' kitchen fiasco continues as Max enlists Kieran's help with the plastering. Patricia is under enough stress already, with the presentation she is meant to be giving.

Kieran asks Margaret why she is treating him like muck, and she tells him not to trail it through the house. Geoff discovers the truth about Bumper's girlfriend. When the council refuse vans arrive, Max takes matters into his own hands, and Ron isn't going to like what he doesn't find.

Kieran gets his marching orders. Tracy is worried about Barry's hairdressing job. Ron and Max clash over the disappearance of certain things.

Mick has a go at Frank, Patricia meets an important client, and Nikki moves in with the Corkhills. Margaret encourages Sammy to talk to her father again.

Aunty Lou is discharged from hospital and moves in with Mick and Josie, but is the constant stream of visitors a help or a hindrance? DD makes plans to hold a tarot night in the Close.

The Farnhams return home to find that Ron has been busy, and Max is careless in his choice of words when seeking DD's opinion of her husband's handiwork.

When Nikki wakes up, she finds that Rod is eating her face-pack. Max decides that a trellis is the most appropriate response to the Wall of Doors. Patricia has to decide whether to take on a job in London. Ron finds his fountain.

Patricia makes a decision. Frank and Geoff have a chat. Everyone stays in for the night at the Corkhills', but a card game turns nasty.

Frank agrees to go with Chrissy for a meal with Sammy and Tim, but ends up wishing he hadn't. Patricia sets off for London.

Sue finds Barry's new girlfriend in the house. Frank decides he wants nothing more to do with Sammy and Tim. Rod is annoyed to find that Mark has spent the night at the Corkhills'. Max gives Margaret the week off.

Max is beginning to miss Patricia, and is struggling to look after all of his children at the same time. Rod and Barry try to warn Tracy off Mark, but she isn't prepared to listen. Carla's presence continues to irritate Sue.

Sue tells Terry he is going to have to choose between her and Barry. Sammy gets her own back on Chloe at the meal out, and Mark is furious when he finds that someone has scratched his car.

Diana has big news for Rod. Terry has to tell Barry he's got to go.

Katie and Siobhan write to a magazine's problem page about their family troubles. Rod tells Diana that he will do the decent thing and marry her.

There is good news and bad news as Terry gets the results of his latest sperm test, and Geoff finds out whether he has been accepted by Tranmere Rovers.

The residents are out and about on the bank holiday, and for some it's not pleasant. Sue talks about her career, and shocks Terry.

Geoff needs encouragement to get on with his life, but Frank has other ideas about how he may become involved in the football industry. Sue doesn't know where to turn, and can't win either way.

Barry decides that intimidation is the best approach, but he succeeds in causing a lot of trouble for everyone. Sue's decision forces Terry to take drastic action.

Geoff comes to a decision about his future, and acts on it. Chrissy discovers what Katie has done. DD plans to surprise Ron with an unusual wedding anniversary present.

Rod makes his feelings plain to Mark. It is Barry's 32nd birthday. Geoff runs out of the examination room, and Ron plans to find a new home for the stone lion.

Rod is reluctant to accept an engagement present from Ron. Tracy insists that Barry takes no revenge on Mark. Sinbad accuses Jimmy of stealing people's memories.

Margaret wonders if she and Max will end up in London with Patricia and most of Max's CDs. Jimmy fears that he will end up in prison again. DD prepares and distributes invitations for her tarot night.

The residents look into the future at the Dixons' tarot evening, but Sue isn't happy with hers. Chrissy is sure of what she has seen, but convincing Sammy is another matter. Sinbad insists that Jimmy lets him tidy up the flat, but who is the visitor he is expecting?

It's Fathers Day, and Katie tries to heal the rift between Frank and Sammy. DD confides in Derek about Maria's infertility. Jimmy receives a card, but wonders if it is too late for a fresh start with Lindsey. A man and a dog arrive looking for Rod, and Barry can't decide which one is the uglier.

Barry severs his partnership. Sammy starts to realise that Tim means what she says. When Maria spends a lot of time on the phone, Ron jokes that she may have another man.......

Jimmy has an unexpected visit from his wife, and she reinforces what Lindsey has said, making him feel even more low. Tim makes his feelings clear, but Sammy still doesn't get it.

Jimmy can only watch his daughter's wedding from a safe distance. Julia plans to show Cyril how discreet she can be by following him. Mike's band practice is interrupted by Tina's boyfriend, whose face is familiar.......

Mike prepares for a race, and Max prepares Patricia's breakfast. Tim tries to convince Sammy that it's all over between them, but will having a bucket of water thrown over her help to make her understand?

The Dixons are in a racing and betting mood. Father Derek visits Margaret again.

Sammy resorts to desperate tactics to get Tim back, but can he overcome them? Barry becomes the owner of the new shops, and gives Max something to think about. Jacqui's interference in the race causes a terrible accident.

Mike's injuries are worse than he imagined, and eventually he has to reveal what really happened. Max becomes desperate and puts on a good show, but will it be enough?

Sammy is in shock over Tim, but things are worse for the Dixons in the aftermath of Mike's car crash. Max resolves to change his attitude, but has he left it too late?

Patricia plans to take the London job, but can Max talk her around at the last minute? Barry decides to make life even more unbearable for Sue, and Jimmy carries on regardless.

Jimmy shocks Sinbad by revealing the lengths he is prepared to go to. Ron negotiates with Barry for one of the shop units.

Julia is surprised by who she meets at Cyril's wife's graveside. DD tries to persuade Barry to co-operate. Margaret and Derek have a mysterious meeting arranged, and Gemma has more than one birthday cake.

Ron and Max discover that the wall has disappeared, but will they find out who was responsible? An invasion of nits brings an outbreak of itching.

Frank disturbs Sue and Terry's reconciliation. Ron wonders whether to tell Charlie what is going on. Patricia tries to find out tactfully whether the Johnsons are responsible for Thomas's headlice.

Ron is not at all impressed when DD reveals her "little" secret. Geoff tells Paula where he is going. Mike makes some decisions.

There is no sign of Ron, and Jimmy is offered another "job". Patricia feels foolish when the source of the nits is revealed. Chrissy takes control of a young teacher's chaotic class, but will Frank be interested?

Patricia comes home to find the previous Mrs Farnham chatting away to Margaret. Ron is adamant that Maria is not welcome in his house until her affair is over. Owen comes round to visit Sammy and apologise for Grace's behaviour. Sinbad goes out to collect chickens.

Sinbad has got the goods for Ron, but they're not quite what he expected. Terry and Mick's latest business plans are frustrated. Frank is surprised to learn that Sammy is seeing Owen again. Chrissy finds it hard to watch Geoff leave for Torquay.

Sammy has a devious plan to seduce Owen. Julia confronts Cyril, and he makes a full confession. Arthur's visit to Diana turns into a full-scale police operation.

Ron discovers that his chickens have escaped. Rod interrogates Arthur at the police station. DD wonders why Julia has been asking strange questions about Cyril. Mike is concerned that Jacqui fancies Keith.

Gemma still hasn't been found, and Josie blames Mick for leaving her unaccompanied. Jacqui takes part in the swimming trials, but will her times be good enough to take her to Holland?

There is good news at last for the Johnsons. Max and Patricia decide to get away from it all. Rod wants to tell Diana's father that he is a policeman.

Terry and Sue's anniversary ends disastrously. Frank prepares to go to visit Geoff, but then he has a slight problem regarding his car.

Diana and Rod invites Diana's father to dinner, so that they can reveal their plans and, more importantly, what Rod does for a living. But who will announce their engagement first? Sue needs a comforting ear, and gets it from an unexpected source.

Barry continues to support Sue, but takes advantage when she gets drunk. Rod is determined to find out why Diana's father dislikes policemen do much.

Ron Dixon shows his true racist colours. Barry doesn't give up, and although Sue is full of remorse, he just rubs salt in the wound. Frank discovers a Japanese temple in his front room.

Mick warns Ellis not to cause any trouble while he is around. Ron admits to his prejudices about Keith, and Jacqui tells him exactly what she thinks about that.

Sue has decided that she wants another baby, so she needs to convince Terry. Frank and Chrissy can't seem to be able to talk without arguing.

Frank is sure that Chrissy is still having an affair. Ellis has a few brilliant ideas, but Mick isn't altogether convinced.

Chrissy and Frank go for marriage guidance. Rod and Tommo begin a new surveillance assignment. The police arrive at the Johnsons' - but why?

Mick comes home to discover that Josie is moving out, while Frank will not be persuaded to change his mind, and tells Chrissy to leave.

Daniel is nearly run over by Ron's Moby. When Frank comes home, he is in for a shock. Vinny has another job lined up for Jimmy, which is bigger and better than the last one.

Jimmy gets a shock when he discovers who one of the other gang members is going to be. Sammy tries to reason with Frank, but only succeeds in making things worse for herself.

Sue needs to confide in someone, but her choice doesn't prove to be very reliable. Tommo tries to make Rod reconsider whether he should marry Diana. Jimmy is uneasy about the big job, and events take a dangerous turn.

Frank and Sammy build a few bridges that are strong enough for her to give him some advice, and for him to take it. Max assures Geoffrey that he is not betraying Patricia by seeing Susannah behind her back.

Jimmy is lying low and running scared. Sinbad finds someone else to share his flat for a few days. Ron and DD find out if their bank manager will give them a loan.

It is Danny's second birthday. Frank must decide whether to take a risk. Ron and DD have a night out, but meet someone they know.

Terry and Sue plan a conservatory. Chrissy is annoyed with Frank when he brings Katie into school late. Max and Ron have plans involving DD and Patricia - but what will they say, and in what language?

Katie confides in her teacher about her family troubles. Ron and DD discover that their shop has been vandalised. Geoffrey ensures that Max is still accompanied to the Round Table function, even though Patricia won't go. Margaret's efforts to see Derek are thwarted.

Max is behaving so strangely that Patricia may become aware of his little secret very quickly. Jimmy looks for work, but nobody wants to know.

Mick wants to give Leo a birthday he won't forget, and enlists Marcia's assistance. Max is expecting only a few barbecue guests, but Patricia ends up inviting everyone on the Close.

There are more and more unexpected arrivals at the Farnhams' barbecue, making it far from free of drama.

It's the morning after the barbecue, and Patricia has a few tricky questions for Max. All he can think about, however, is being caught on camera by Ron.

Sammy tells Margaret that she and Owen have slept together. Rod is approached by a suspicious character in the arcade. It is Mike's first day at college, and Graeme continues to pester Sue at work.

Margaret and Derek's friendship is becoming very awkward. Mick has a job interview. Graeme brings Sue's scarf to her home, but she doesn't believe his story.

Sue tries to convince Barry that she has not been encouraging Graeme. DD tries to persuade Margaret not to have a relationship with Derek.

Graeme is still hassling Sue at work, and she has had enough of him. Chrissy is offered a place at teacher-training college. Rod and Mike both have different reasons for visiting the bank, and a schoolmate pokes fun at Jacqui's trainers.

Marcia gives Sinbad a friendly kiss. Sue confronts Graeme again. Diana becomes frightened after overhearing an argument. DD wonders who Ron will get to open the shop, and why Jacqui has thrown her new trainers in the bin.

A day off work leads to disaster for Sue.

A full police investigation begins into the circumstances of the deaths of Sue and Danny, and the Dixons feel unable to go ahead with their grand opening.

The Dixons' shop finally opens, while Terry is suspected of being involved in the deaths of Sue and Danny. Max is forced to make a few confessions to Patricia.

Terry fears that he may be responsible for the deaths. Max tries to reason with Patricia, who is still sulking over Susannah.

Fran, Barry and Mick are interviewed as the police investigations continue. Elsewhere, there is a pregnancy, and an engagement.

DD and Jacqui finally reach a compromise about the trainers. Ron finds out the truth about his father. Terry receives more shattering news.

Graeme turns up at Sue's funeral. Marcia and Sinbad get closer. Sammy and Owen tell Frank of their decision, but how will he react? Cyril tries to apologise to Ron, but will he accept it?

Sammy and Owen make an announcement. Barry tries to prove Terry's innocence.

Jack Sullivan is questioned by the police, but will his alibi hold up? Mike has to tell a lie to explain the appearance of the keyboard.

Terry decides to take the law into his own hands, but the police are one step ahead. Mike's gig doesn't go according to plan. Chrissy and Frank have something to discuss with Owen's parents.

Despite the arrest of Graeme, Terry still blames himself for Sue and Danny's deaths, and his despair turns to violence. Mike has an ultimatum for Tina, and Julia feels like a camel with its head buried in the sand.

Something is bothering Diana, but can she tell Rod what it is? While Frank is helping Sammy with her plans, Chrissy has been doing some serious thinking.

Terry remains unconsolable, and Diana's secret is out. John and Barbara Harrison decide to make an offer for the bungalow.

Diana tells Nikki she doesn't want Rod to find out her secret, Chrissy asks Katie not to tell Frank what she has accidentally discovered from her teacher, and Barry asks Fran not to tell anyone that he slept with Sue.

Chrissy and Frank each have some last-minute advice for Owen. Marcia is desperate for Sinbad to stand up to Ellis. Katie tries to find out the difference between a liquidiser and a vibrator.

It is the morning of Owen's wedding day, but when his father goes to his room, he is nowhere to be found.

DD refuses to give up her job, Frank has to explain a few things to Katie, and Jimmy is reunited with someone from his past.

Mike's keyboard secret becomes hot news in the Dixon household. Jimmy feels sorry for himself. The future looks bleak for Terry, despite everyone's attempts to convince him that he didn't murder Sue and Danny.

Ron confronts Mike, and Terry finds an answer. Jimmy tries to impress his ex-wife with his new job. Rod discovers what Craig is up to, and wishes he hadn't.

Derek tries to explain his vow of celibacy to Margaret. Freddie tries to ensure that Rod does not make contact with Diana. Jimmy tries to ensure that there is only one applicant for the job in the shop, but so does Julia.

Rod is told to keep away from the arcade. Father Thornton tells Derek that he may have to move to another parish if his relationship with Margaret doesn't end. Jackie and Julia are both interviewed by Ron.

Ron is still in a dilemma about whether to give the job to Jackie or to Julia. Rod disobeys orders and returns to the arcade in search of Craig. DD is angry to find out that Derek is going to Gloucester.

Margaret's mind is not on her work, which nearly results in a serious accident. Rod tries to convince Diana that he still wants to marry her. Ron finally makes a decision.

Margaret visits Father Thornton to find out why she can't have a relationship with Derek. Diana's father turns up at the Corkhills', determined to cause trouble.

On Diana's hen night, the girls become extremely tipsy, and there is an embarrassing moment for the bride-to-be. Susannah has plans for Christmas, and Fran wonders where she stands with Barry.

Patricia has something on her mind, but it takes a while for the penny to drop with Max. On their 20th wedding anniversary, Jimmy and Jackie have dinner together and receive a wedding invitation.

There is a confrontation between Jimmy and Little Jimmy, who reveals why it is that he hates his father so much. Barry gets a surprise when he meets the new salon manager. Margaret is not impressed to find that Max has invited a young man to have dinner with her.

Preparations are underway in the Spence household as Diana's wedding day arrives. Rod is determined to be a good samaritan, but will he make it to the church on time?

Mike has a cash-flow problem. Diana and Tommo anxiously await news of Rod. Margaret bumps into Derek.

After seeing Derek at the Dixons' shop, Margaret is still confused. Mick and Ellis argue, Ron's takings are down again, and Rod's sergeant visits him on his honeymoon.

Margaret realises that the odds are against her when she is competing with God for Derek's love. When Ron mentions that money has been going missing from the till, both Jackie and Julia walk out on him.

Diana gets the truth out of Rod, but it's not what she wants to hear. Margaret and Mick notice Patricia's anxiety, even if Max doesn't.

Patricia worries about her presentation, missing the Nativity play, and something else. To his parents' surprise, Mike thinks about selling his car. Rod and Diana go to the annual police Christmas party.

Patricia needs support, but when she telephones Max at home, Susannah answers. Angela is grateful for the help Barry has given her, until she realises that the only way to his flat is through her salon.

Patricia picks Max up from his office Christmas party, and he is in no fit state for a conversation. Craig turns up on Rod and Diana's doorstep, and there is only one possible course of action. When Derek comforts Margaret, one thing leads to another.

It is Christmas Day in the Farnham household, as Susannah has a very expensive Christmas present for Max, Patricia confronts him about his involvement with his ex-wife, and Margaret and Derek talk about how they feel.

Margaret and Derek have to face up to reality. Ron discovers Mike's credit card slips. Max tries to resolve things with Patricia, but will she listen?

On a typically quiet New Year's Eve on the Close, Susannah takes advantage of Max, Ron plans to sell Mike's keyboard, Fran is on the warpath, the Harrisons move in, a thief is caught in the act, and a dead body is discovered.
