A hospitalised and pregnant Kate experiences the effects of stress in the aftermath of the murder trial as she's rushed into surgery. Caroline sees a young girl struggling with her exams following the death of her brother.

Kate struggles to cope with losing her child and finds her relationship with Mac becoming increasingly strained. Steve sees a farmer who's struggling to deal with his diabetes, but who is the young girl living with him?

Steve receives a dinner invitation from Leigh, the woman whose life he saved, while Rana attempts to treat a patient via the Internet. Caroline deals with a man caught up in a police raid.

Phil finally discovers that Helen has been having an affair with Chris Rawlings, and throws her out of the family home. A father worries about his daughter's behavior. He tells Steve he thinks she's on drugs.

Helen grows anxious about whether Chris is ready for commitment. Vicky tries to get more inhalers, but is there a reason why she's going through them like wildfire?

Mac gets called to the hospital by a 15-year-old's parents when the cancer-ridden girl refuses to have a major operation that could save her life. A still grieving Jo has a major meltdown at work.

Rana arouses suspicion that his new role as an internet entrepreneur may not be all it seems when he starts spending a lot of time at the surgery. Helen sees a SAD sufferer for her holiday jab, but then her son gets chicken pox.

His sexual needs gratified, horrid Chris dumps lovely Helen. Steve visits Leigh's school to show her class a bunch of leeches. Helen visits a woman with motor neurone disease.

After a one-night stand, Rana bluffs his way through an empty day. Mac self-doubts himself when he rushes through a patient with bowel problems. How due Steve and Leigh deal with the Natalie problem?, and Helen confides in Kate.

With Mac and Kate away, cocky Rana returns to the surgery, much to Jo's annoyance. Helen sees a teacher who wants an abortion, but tests show she also has an STD.

Caroline deals with an elderly ex-boxer who appears to have met his match when he is discovered unconscious after a burglary. Steve tries to get the truth from Chris, and Rana meets up with a dentist friend.

A elderly couple's friendship is threatened, whilst Helen refuses to talk to Steve about Chris.

Caroline tackles a case when a normally placid man faces criminal charges for fighting, and his mother sees Helen for an injured wrist. A depressed Jo is having a tough day so Steve gives her some pills.

Rana has a patient whose 23-year-old wife has a high sex drive and he is desperate to find a way to have sex less often without hurting her feelings. Steve helps a lonely man who goes to extreme lengths to draw attention to his plight.

Rana takes his neighbour to the doctor's surgery with a serious knife wound - has his wife been abusing him? Steve visits Phil in an attempt to fix things between him and Helen. Rana's mother is desperately trying to get hold of him.

Caroline sees a young footballer and his mum. She's found what she thinks are drugs on him. Is he taking or is it something deeper? Jo keeps taking the pills Steve gave her, but her mind's all over the place. Steve's having a strange day.

Steve sees a young couple arguing about whether to have a home birth or not. Rana has some bad news for a rising TV star and her obnoxious producer. Helen and Phil agree to try and make another go of things.

Steve delivers bad news to a patient who's not only having difficulty coming to terms with life in a wheelchair, but is also growing increasingly estranged from his long-suffering wife

Jo continues to struggle to cope with the death of her Nan, but is she taking too many pills? Rana treats a girl whose preoccupations with her skin is also seemingly linked to a bereavement.

Caroline is forced to tell a young holiday rep that he has a melanoma. Mac returns from Ireland and after a tough day makes a shock announcement to the staff.

An Orthodox Jew risks his father's wrath by announcing he wants to marry a woman his father sees as not strictly Jewish. A health test also reveals a risk to any children. Helen and Phil begin counselling and Kate reveals she's pregnant.

Rana tells Caroline about his day trying to work out an internet patient's symptoms, and how his work is interfering with his surgery cover. His bank manager's also after him.

Helen sees pregnant Gemma, who's previous husband was abusive, and responsible for the death of her first child. Did she lie to protect him though? Social services are worried about her state of mind. Mac gets given a petition.

Helen sees a young boy with asthma, while Caroline sees one of her patients, a man with gout. Helen's late for her counselling session, much to petty Phil's annoyance. Caroline has another drinking session with Rana, who spills the beans.

Caroline has a shock when she discovers sorrowful Rana's arrest for drink driving. Steve goes on an indoor bowling day with Leigh and deadly Natalie. Rana asks Caroline to help him, risking their friendship, and her reputation.

New attractive blonde receptionist, Candy Williams begins working at Riverside, much to the excitement of all the male staff. Caroline sees a man who's lost his memory, but is being haunted by the past as it slowly returns.

Mac sees a dying woman who's seeking answers to her past. Picking up Mac's patients, Rana's convinced by Kate to speak to him about his decision to retire. Caroline speaks to Kate about her pregnancy.

A woman is forced by her boyfriend to see Mac, but are his concerns genuine? After she attacks him and trashes the place, he convinces Caroline to pay her a home visit. Steve's constantly happy at work, but is he in love?

Rana is offered a partnership by Mac and a relationship by Caroline, Helen and Phil have a cozy night out together, and Steve proposes to Leigh. Mac sees an elderly woman who's unhappy about her daughter's current doctor.

Rana says no to Caroline while Leigh says yes to Steve, although Natalie's not too happy. Helen moves back in with Phil and the kids. Mac sees a new parent who doesn't think her new baby is hers.

The behaviour of a policeman on his return to work after an attack gives the doctors cause for concern, especially when he freezes when attending a robbery. Jo's not getting on with perfect Candy, and Steve gets a visit from Leigh's ex.

Jo comes in bright and early, carrying biscuits, and tries to get one over on Candy all day. Kate's anxiety over her pregnancy is put into perspective by the arrival of an old friend. Ruth sees a woman with way too many cats, and asthma.

The doctors win big on the lottery, though as no one has paid Ruth for the ticket, she claims the winnings for herself, much to the annoyance of everybody else. She leaves in a huff. Steve sees a young boxer with a dilemma.

Caroline is deeply affected by a woman's allegations that her husband continually raped her. Rana plans a disco party. Kate finally tells Mac that she's pregnant, and Steve brags to Rana about being loved up with Leigh.

Jo's dodgy prescriptions finally get revealed and investigated. She's in deep trouble. Rana sees a bloke who keeps putting on weight.

Jo awaits the verdict on her future at the surgery as the repercussions of her prescription fraud and the killing of her Nan rumble on. Helen and Caroline agonise over the discovery that a patient's presumed dead husband is still alive.

Steve treats a man with chest pains, after years of illegally handling asbestos on building sites. Helen has moved back in with Phil but finds it difficult settling back into the domestic routine. Phil has a big surprise for Helen.

In a fit of tears, Jo admits to Mac that she gave her Nan an overdose of morphine, thereby killing her. Mac decides to forget about it. Helen deals with a woman who discovers she's pregnant, only her husband's had a vasectomy.

Steve and Leigh host a lovely engagement party. Elsewhere, Mac tries to save lonely Jo, who has taken a drugs overdose at her Nan's house. Chris turns up at the party, and gets a thumping from Phil.

As Jo remains unconsciousness in hospital, the doctors speculate about why she attempted suicide. Caroline sees a woman who's pregnant, but not by her waster ex-con husband.

Talkative new nurse, Faith Walker starts at Riverside, although she's a bit late. Helen sees a man worried for his son, as he thinks his mother's a bit bonkers. Helen is worried about the boy though. Mac visits Jo in hospital.

When Faith spots bruises on a young child, Helen suspects that a patient suffering from a heavy dose of PMT might be abusing her children. Candy flashes her stocking tops for a glam night out with Faith.

Candy turns up for work a bit disheveled after her wild night out. Rana sees a patient of Macs, who wants to use cannabis to treat his multiple sclerosis. Mac finally tells Jack the reasons for Jo's suicide attempt, and he's not happy.

Caroline's glamorous mum turns up from America, and there's a lot to catch up on. Faith and Steve see Chrissy, who's baby gets a high temperature after a few jabs, but is her constant smoking a problem? A teary Jack pays Mac a visit.

Caroline sees an adopted girl who's having a bone marrow transplant. Can Mac convince Jack not to shop Jo into the police? Caroline gets a shock when her mum brings her new toyboy fiancee to her party.

Rana is puzzled by a quiet and unresponsive baby. Post-party, Caroline has serious reservations about her mum's plans to marry a man young enough to be her son, but is she just jealous? Candy discovers that Faith has a secret.

A stressed headmaster consults Steve about his suddenly moody daughter. Jo comes around in hospital, Candy has it out with Faith, and Caroline has a visit from mum's toyboy, but all she can do is argue with him. Steve has a shock for Mac.

Steve makes a big announcement to the staff. Things are still strained between Faith and Candy over the drugs. Helen sees a bus driver with a low sperm count. Caroline's lunch with her mum doesn't go well. Rana and Faith have a night out.

Rana is giddy, having spent the night with Faith, at least until her mum puts a spanner in the works. Steve sees a young girl who's been getting into fights at school, but he worries more about the mother. Caroline meets up with David.

Mac sees a woman complaining of stomach cramps. She's soon to be wed, but Mac has concerns about her husband-to-be. A tearful Jo visits her Nan's grave with Kate. Faith's mum makes a complaint about Rana, and David pays Caroline a visit.

Jo turns up unexpectedly for work, wanting things to get back to normal. Sad Rana goes and sees Faith's mum. Caroline has a complaint made against her, and is getting lots of silent, threatening phone calls.

Mac calls an urgent meeting among the partners to discuss Jo's stealing, drug addiction, her attempted suicide and her assisting Jesse to kill herself. Caroline snogs her mother's fiancée. Jo and Candy bond whilst holding the fort.

Mac finally has to sack Jo, and she's not happy and leaves in tears. Caroline has sex with her mother's fiancée. At a nightclub, Faith gets threatened by some druggy girls, and Natalie gets drunk. Rana helps a couple with a Downs baby.

Following up on the storyline of Sally and Dale Witchell, Steve helps pregnant Sally who goes into early labour. Caroline confides in Rana about her having had sex with her mum's fiancee. The druggy girl gang come to blackmail Faith.

It's Caroline's mum's wedding and most of the Riverside staff attend, but will Caroline be able to keep her hands off the groom? Steve has something on his mind after an unexpected visitor. Faith finally deals with her blackmailers.
