Series 3

The practice returns to normal after recent staff upheavals. New Riverside employee Dr Jude meets the staff and begins her first day on the job. Mac helps a family in crisis. A heavily pregnant Kate falls down the stairs at home.

The staff at Riverside struggle to cope without Mac's help as Kate lies in hospital in a critical condition following her fall. A teenage boy struggles with the embarrassment of seeing Dr Jude Carlyle after a problem with a testicle.

Things take a turn for the McGuires as Kate comes round after her cesarean. Ben is concerned that things are not what they seem for a young girl with toddler problems. Katrina worries after seeing a friend see Dr Carlisle.

Jude has an important announcement to make, and Mac returns to the surgery but has his mind elsewhere. The husband of a patient turns up wanting to sue the surgery, and blames Dr Kwarme.

Helen helps a family with alcohol problems. Phil is concerned about the violent behaviour of his son Dan, and Mac and Kate are given good news. Katrina and Faith keep gossiping about Jude as they still think she's a lesbian

An elderly Polish lady with a painful hip gives Jude cause for concern, although she's Mac's patient. Mac and Ben's moodiness worries the female staff, and Kate suffers feelings of inadequacy. Ben explains to Faith about his dad problems.

Mac struggles to communicate with Kate, and Ben makes an emergency home visit which has a profound effect on one of his patients. Jude and Helen go to the gym, where Jude stuns her with a confession. Time for a hot sauna.

Faith tries to get close to Ben, and a chance remark by Katrina makes Jude worry about Helen betraying her. Mac has cause for concern about an elderly patient's wife, whilst Kate worries about why he's not visiting her in hospital.

Katrina discovers a baby left outside the surgery. Ben has a surprise encounter at the hospital, and Helen resolves to sort things out with Jude. Meena takes loads of pills after finding letters her father's hidden from her.

Helen keeps trying to get Mac to visit Kate. He finally does, drunk, and after a visit to a strip club. Ben sees a stressed-out super-model, and attends a nasty house fire. Jude gets a visit from her nasty ex-husband.

Mac continues to try to avoid Kate, whilst Jude continues to try to avoid nasty ex Richard. Helen gets concerned after the non-appearance of a patient. Ben recovers in hospital after the fire incident.

Mac visits a couple who are having problems coping with the arrival of their newborn child, after it's born inter-sex. The visit makes Mac realise his feelings over his own newborn. Jude and Helen go for lunch in the park.

Helen's judgement is called into question by a social worker, when she diagnoses a youngster with a mild form of Aspergers. Ben's heroics become headline news. He visits his dad.

Kate storms into the surgery to give Mac a piece of her mind. Jude sees an elderly patient after a fall, her drum-playing grandson, and social services, who are all concerned about her independence. Nasty Richard turns up to see Jude.

Mac plays golf with a friend and new father. Initially appearing happy, he soon makes some disturbing discoveries suggesting otherwise. Jude worries about the whereabouts of Pete, and Kate finally leaves hospital, and she's not happy.

Jude grows worried about her missing fiance, but when he turns up, he's not happy. Mac tries to cope now that Kate has kicked him out. Ben treats a man whose high blood pressure seems to be caused by his wife's spending habits.

A family rift causes a patient to hide a dangerous hereditary condition from her bride-to-be sister. Jude struggles after her bust-up with Pete, and with her missing rats. Ben and his father try to bond, despite Ben having a hot date.

The surgery is overrun with Jude's rats, whilst Pete gives her an ultimatum. Mac checks up on an old farmer after Helen spots him running from the surgery half naked after having spent the night there. Katrina faces a conflict of interest.

Will Katrina tell Bobbi about her dad's cancer before she swans across the world? A young boy calls Helen in to help with his sick mum, and the strain on Mac of being separated from his wife and new child pushes him to breaking point.

Mac recovers from his drunken night out, Helen's not happy with him. He's visited by a librarian experiencing problems with impotence. Bobbi sees Faith about Katrina's faux pas, and worries about Katrina's future.

Mac arrives drunk at the surgery. Jude sees a boxer whose urine sample yields surprising results, and Ben is stuck with the surgery's longest-standing and most demanding patient. Katrina finally tells Kate, and gets suspended.

Kate has to provide cover for the absent Katrina. Mac tries to find out why an elderly patient is seemingly making herself ill, and Jude makes a serious mistake when she forgets about a house-call.

Faith helps a heavily pregnant Yugoslavian refugee. Prim and proper new temp receptionist Mavis Ryder is shocked by Ben's noisy arrival, and Mac finally returns to Kate. Ben gets set up by his father, and Jude tries to see Bradley.

Ben tries to convince a guilt-ridden mother that her son's kidney disorder is not her fault. Mac's sister turns up, and is not impressed with Mavis. She's also worried about Mac. Bradley's mum storms into the surgery, shouting loudly.

Ex-Kosovo Army major Marc Eliot visits his psychiatrist, he's got a troubled past. Jude pays a home visit after an elderly death. Lovely Helen meets up with a new colleague, one Dr. Marc Eliot, and she seems very happy.

Kate heads out on a shopping spree, leaving Mac to take care of the baby. Faith finds herself involved in a complicated love triangle, and new doctor Marc Eliot causes a stir. Katrina returns to reception.

Katrina and Faith make an effort to impress new Riverside medic Dr. Marc Eliot, but he's too preoccupied with helping an elderly adopted patient to notice. Helen gets Pete in to speak to Jude.

Marc faces an ethical dilemma when an anti-vivisectionist couple refuse medicines tested on animals even though their son's life is in danger. Mac plays golf with a troubled friend. Pete visits Bradley, and Faith beds handsome Dr Marc.

Mac makes a home visit to a woman with a stomach ulcer, and Jude fears she is facing the end of her career at Riverside. Faith wakes up smitten after a night of passion with Marc, but does he feel the same?

Marc's treatment of a patient leaves Faith troubled, and a father brings his 8-year-old daughter in when he's concerned about her mood swings, spots, and constant questions. Jude's livid about Pete's interference. Kate looks at a nursery.

Jude fails to turn up for morning surgery, and Mac locks Kate in the house to stop her from going into work. Ben sees a mother who'll go to any lengths to ensure that her child gets a transplant for her leukemia.

Mac counsels a tug-of-war youngster being forced to choose between his estranged parents, and tensions run high at the surgery following Faith and Marc's night of passion. Katrina visit to see Jude creates more questions that answers.

Helen has difficulty with a diagnosis until Marc makes a surprising discovery about the patient's past. Jude returns, and the mystery over her sick leave is revealed. Katrina and Ben go fifties-dancing.

Jude's all loved-up. Katrina calls Kate in, and Kate announces she's starting back to work part-time. Ben has trouble with a doctor patient, who refuses to listen to his advice.

Jude and Pete's engagement celebrations turn sour when someone from Jude's past turns up, and Helen suspects that there is more than meets the eye to a girl's sickness.

Jude's suspicions are aroused by an adopted man who suddenly wants to contact his birth mother, and Kate and Mac try to salvage something from their marriage. Marc has to step in when a little brat acts up!

Mac's on baby drop off duty, twice! Someone from Jude's family is introduced to the viewer. Kate has a word with Katrina, but it might not be the bad news she expected. Mac's patient is too posh to push. Jude's sister turns up to irritate the viewer.

Mac worries about an old friend who appears to be well and truly in the clutches of a buxom gold-digger. Katrina comes to blows with Marc over his bedside manner. Jude and her sister continues to irritate the viewer

Mac and Kate try to resolve Marc and Katrina's differences, a multiple sclerosis sufferer fights for her right to treatment, and Jude confides in Helen.

Ben helps a student preparing for fatherhood, though his girlfriend and dad seem to be up to something. Marc decides to stop seeing a psychiatrist and has a confrontation with Katrina.

Mac offers advice to a woman whose husband is being kept in the dark about her embarrassing illness, and Marc regrets ignoring an urgent call from his ailing mother

Mac's insurance medical proves to be popular, but is a patient all he seems? Jude and her sister continue to irritate the viewer. Marc won't leave his mother's bedside at the hospital.

Mark is still taking time off as his mother is still in hospital. Jude gets involved with a couple who will do anything to get their son into the school of their choice, which seems to be the soupe du jour with other patients too. Mac can't find the coffee, s hits the bottle!

Kate is shocked to discover Mac disposing of an empty whiskey bottle, and a worried husband seeks advice about his wife's inability to bond with their baby. Beth tries to get her claws into Jude's new husband to be.

A husband's illicit affair is brought to light by a touch of the measles, Marc deals with sad news, and a mysterious stranger in uniform sweeps Katrina off her feet.

Mark returns to work. A daughter is hen pecked by her mother. Katrina and loverboy shake, rattle and roll at the 50's night

A gardening grandad visits Riverside. Marc turns to Helen for a shoulder to cry on after his mother's funeral, Jude and Beth try to rebuild their relationship, and Katrina puts on a brave face about Jimmy.

Helen gives a second opinion on a patient diagnosed with depression. Jude's sister acts erratic YET AGAIN. Mac continues his battle with the bottle while trying desperately to keep his addiction a secret.

Helen becomes concerned for a girl with eczema who lives on a farm. Beth continues to irritate viewers with her erratic behaviour over the Bolivian balls-up. Deluded Mac has another large whiskey.

Marc treats an up and coming tennis star in jeopardy. Jude pulls another sickie due to concerns over a newspaper article. Helen is pleasantly surprised to receive a bunch of flowers.

An unhealthy Mayor of Letherbridge checks in, and so does his wife! Jude's mind is elsewhere. Mac turns up for afternoon surgery half-cut after quaffing red wine and 'wetting the baby's head' with scotch. 'E-Coli Eddie' supplies lunch. Marc takes Kate into his confidence, and Helen worries about her staff.
