This grand, straight boulevard was created in the 19th century to transform Budapest into a modern European capital, inspired by Vienna and Paris. Lined with Neo-Renaissance buildings, it leads from the city center to the City Park. A single plane tree, carefully preserved, has survived wars and revolutions.
